Lighting is one of the most overlooked and yet important elements of good design. It sets the mood and esthetics, not only inside, but outside as well.
Now with summer upon us, we are spending more time entertaining outside in our back yards. Properly lit areas add ambiance that is welcoming and comforting. Flower pots and trees that are back lit will set the scene, as well. Highlighting important features with the proper lighting is essential for a well- balanced design.

Uniformity of light on ceilings and walls help make spaces appear more attractive. When adding canlights on a ceiling or wall, be careful to avoid "hot spots" or glare. Exterior wall lights should be a wash of light to enhance corner brick, columns or a particular feature. It should never be a spotlight shining into a window.
With the proper placement of lighting, you will accomplish a comfortable "Zen-like" environment that will be an inviting place to entertain or relax.
